Prep for them short shorts.

Spring went and sprung and we’re well into the hotter days of the summer season.
What does this mean then: Shorts shorts and even shorter ones too.

I know Queerntessential Threads is known for highlighting fashion trends and giving a free edu-session on the Dos and Donts but I think it is VITAL to give this one tip as well: EXERCISE.
We’ve seen people in shorts of different cuts, tones and lengths and sometimes, we have gasped if the wearer got things completely wrong and we are in awe if another hits the nail right on the head.

Where am I going with this then… Here -> SQUATS AND LUNGES ladies. PLEEEEEEEEASE
If youre going to go for the short shorts trend, go big or b\go home because any pair of shorts deserves a great bum and equally sexy legs. For the full benefit of the look and for your glorified awesomeness.

So take this, use it, be great…
The basic squat (DONE RIGHT)

Points to consider
- Start upright, feet apart and arms stretched out in front of you.
- Ensure that you go down, you knees stay parallel to your toes.
(Do not lose 90 Degree angle.)
- Push butt out on descent
- Tighten abdomen muscles when you go down and come back up.

The basic lunge (As you should)

Points to conside
- Back straight at all times
- Legs kept together from starting position
- Lean forward. Knee need not touch the ground
- Tighten abdomen muscles when rising again to start position.

Do those 3-4 times a week then tell us we werent right. GO ON. WE DARE YOU.

CARGO DELIGHT, YES CARGO PANTS!!!

Someone recently said, "cargo pants are rough, tough and workable for carpenters, adventures and ordinary people who just need to carry more stuff". What utter bs was this person talking about though?

However, here is a debatable question. Should I actually carry anything in my cargo pants??

Sure - your phone and ID, nothing bulky.
Not really - you don't want to end up looking like a pack mule. Only carry your slim wallet.
Maybe - it's a matter of choice really.

Let me drop you some knowledge below....

Leather and the Workplace

Lets talk Leather for a moment.

At the mere mention of "Leather", one's mind immediately runs off to make an associate of the material to some punk rock type with dark make-up and Emo tendencies. If not that, then the reference jumps off to a bad biker dude with a Harley and dark sunglasses.

At no point in time does the mind imagine leather being paired up with a soft pastel-coloured cotton or perhaps something floral and flimsy. For many years, the workplace has been completely devoid of leather for those exact reasons- When one wakes up to get ready for another day on the 9-5 grind, their choice of attire, the constant subconscious reminder to abide by the "Corporate Look" code of conduct does not in any way consist of wearing leather.
It's an unwritten, unspoken rule. (Just goes to show how the corporate world has us on ball and chain lockdown)

SO we've chosen a few pictures that will show just how fantastically leather can work for the salary grind.

The trick for getting it right lies in the fit (for pants and jackets) and the length (for skirts)
If you don't want the boss and H.R calling you because of an "incorrect dress code, then make sure that skirt ATLEAST grazes the knees and extra ensure that the pants you wear NEVER have you pulling them out from your inner thighs because they're too tight.

Now off you go. Get that item you've been eyeing in the store and wear it to the office. If they ask, tell them QUEERNTESSENTIAL THREADS gave it the thumbs up.....

SERVED!!!

INTRODUCING MAXHOSA BY LADUMA

Hp

Laduma's journey started in 2012, with a thirst to find knitwear design solutions for Xhosa initiates. His vision was to create a modern Xhosa inspired knitwear collection that would be suitable for amakrwala, who were prescribed by tradition to dress up in new dignified formal clothing for 6 months after initiation.

As a person who had undergone that process, he felt that he had to develop knitwear that genuinely depicts is cultural aesthetics. Along his journey into exploring astonishing traditional Xhosa headwork, craft, patters, symbolism and colours he discovered that they would be the best inspiration for his knitwear, which he then incorporated into modern knitwear.

'MY HERITAGE MY INHERITANCE COLLECTION'

Inspired by his late mother's dream as a knitwear designer in the 80's.

SAVE WATER - FREEZE YOU JEANS

Firstly I really struggle to find a perfect fit of jeans, and when I do find the perfect fir, I hate how denim is so prone to dirt. You wash them and then they start to fade. Hence I go for months on end without bothering to wash my jeans, and pray to the demin gods that the bacteria does not eat me alive.

But a good friend of mine, told me that I was being silly, the secret is below.....

Yup, SAVE WATER AND FREEZE YOUR JEANS!!!

I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard, but because I am a liker of things, I followed her instructions and tried it:

All you need is:
A pair of dirty jeans
A large zip lock bag
A freezer (well duh)

1. Fold your jeans neatly and place inside bag. Seal bag and insert in freezer.

2. Remove after one week and wear as new.

While this process won't remove stains, it is touted to kill any living organisms and make your jeans FEEL crisp and clean again.

So after a week, I have to say that they sorta, and kinda did feel crisper, although I think it may be that the were just cold. I don't think that they were washed in any way, but they felt fresh.

Can somebody, anybody please advise how I can clean my jeans without having to wait months before I can wash them...

INTRODUCING VERNAC BAGS

Vernac is short for vernacular, and a vernacular is the native language or native dialect of a specific population. An untold story needed to be told in an array of dialects of not only the people in our land, but all lands, and thus Vernac was born.

Vernac serves to celebrate Africans in the Diaspora as well as the rags to riches of the previously disadvantaged. To name these emblems of tortured migrating souls after the founder, Dennis Chuene felt it would be claiming a historic aesthetic value for personal enrichment. The brand is called Vernac, to encompass the vast number of indigenous languages spoken by the disadvantaged from all over the world.

Unglamorous and functional, these bags have come to be known as tools of utility for those migrating from one country to another in search of a better life for themselves just as the picture shown above. Dennis recognised a need to have a brand that resonates with these individuals whilst creating a nostalgic feeling, By repetition of the tartan pattern and colouration on the bags, we've reintroduced the aesthetic paired with a concept embracing the recreational every day use of it by a broad demographic of people.
