Leather and the Workplace

Lets talk Leather for a moment.

At the mere mention of "Leather", one's mind immediately runs off to make an associate of the material to some punk rock type with dark make-up and Emo tendencies. If not that, then the reference jumps off to a bad biker dude with a Harley and dark sunglasses.

At no point in time does the mind imagine leather being paired up with a soft pastel-coloured cotton or perhaps something floral and flimsy. For many years, the workplace has been completely devoid of leather for those exact reasons- When one wakes up to get ready for another day on the 9-5 grind, their choice of attire, the constant subconscious reminder to abide by the "Corporate Look" code of conduct does not in any way consist of wearing leather.
It's an unwritten, unspoken rule. (Just goes to show how the corporate world has us on ball and chain lockdown)

SO we've chosen a few pictures that will show just how fantastically leather can work for the salary grind.

The trick for getting it right lies in the fit (for pants and jackets) and the length (for skirts)
If you don't want the boss and H.R calling you because of an "incorrect dress code, then make sure that skirt ATLEAST grazes the knees and extra ensure that the pants you wear NEVER have you pulling them out from your inner thighs because they're too tight.

Now off you go. Get that item you've been eyeing in the store and wear it to the office. If they ask, tell them QUEERNTESSENTIAL THREADS gave it the thumbs up.....

INTRODUCING MAXHOSA BY LADUMA

Hp

Laduma's journey started in 2012, with a thirst to find knitwear design solutions for Xhosa initiates. His vision was to create a modern Xhosa inspired knitwear collection that would be suitable for amakrwala, who were prescribed by tradition to dress up in new dignified formal clothing for 6 months after initiation.

As a person who had undergone that process, he felt that he had to develop knitwear that genuinely depicts is cultural aesthetics. Along his journey into exploring astonishing traditional Xhosa headwork, craft, patters, symbolism and colours he discovered that they would be the best inspiration for his knitwear, which he then incorporated into modern knitwear.

SAVE WATER - FREEZE YOU JEANS

Firstly I really struggle to find a perfect fit of jeans, and when I do find the perfect fir, I hate how denim is so prone to dirt. You wash them and then they start to fade. Hence I go for months on end without bothering to wash my jeans, and pray to the demin gods that the bacteria does not eat me alive.

But a good friend of mine, told me that I was being silly, the secret is below.....

Yup, SAVE WATER AND FREEZE YOUR JEANS!!!

I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard, but because I am a liker of things, I followed her instructions and tried it:

All you need is:
A pair of dirty jeans
A large zip lock bag
A freezer (well duh)

1. Fold your jeans neatly and place inside bag. Seal bag and insert in freezer.

2. Remove after one week and wear as new.

While this process won't remove stains, it is touted to kill any living organisms and make your jeans FEEL crisp and clean again.

So after a week, I have to say that they sorta, and kinda did feel crisper, although I think it may be that the were just cold. I don't think that they were washed in any way, but they felt fresh.

Can somebody, anybody please advise how I can clean my jeans without having to wait months before I can wash them...
